Elie Tahari Architect of Fashion

"Everything magical happens to me when I am in love." With the transcendent vision of an artist, Elie Tahari is a man seduced by the truth and beauty of life. So it is no surprise that the most elegantly understated fashions of this century have evolved from the house of this impassioned designer, who believes clothing should be "quieter than the woman," so that her true beauty can shine through. "Achieving silence through design is extremely difficult." A student of silence, he believes, "Great architects create spaces that are very much in tune with the wind, the sun, the light, the air and the seasons. Clothing should be no different." From his passion for architecture, Elie Tahari finds inspiration in clean, straight lines and quiet suggestion. With these basic principles as his foundation, he has built an empire.

Fall 2006 Marc By Marc Jacobs

The runway was a cement sidewalk, and the boys and girls who marched up and down it were the urban magpies that Marc Jacobs always imagines in the clothes he makes for his second collection. A little vintage, a little military, a little grunge—they pick and choose across a gamut of thrifty options, then layer it all together. That's how a gray flannel pajama shirt ends up as the partner for a worn suit in a deep brown, or how an officer's coat gets thrown over a herringbone waistcoat over a Henley over a pair of air-force-blue trousers.

Fall 2006 Trendspotting: Key Looks

”Natty” is a word that came to mind when reviewing a lot of this fall's fashions, and that's not a word we use with great affection. It has a connotation of affectation and of excessive meticulousness. Long-haired models strode down runways in tight, shiny suits, pointy shoes, peg-leg trousers and belted overcoats, looking as much as they could like gangsters from sixties films. Yes, there's a slightly sleazy edge to it all, which is not necessarily unattractive, although it may be tough for those of us with softer edges to live up to. It's going to be a fun role to play anyway.

The Preppy Handbook. The return to the 1980’s of pastels and turned up collars of the well-to-do teen set. Much more tailored than the Abercrombie Zombie look; this look is definitely for the BMOC (Best Model on Campus). Michael Kors who can be more Ralph Lauren than Ralph himself excels at this look. The Canten’s of DSqaured worked it in tongue in check fashion.

Short Jackets. The season's short jackets are a bit disquieting for the full-figured man. The hippest cuts are shrunken in all ways -- width, length and shoulders (at Cavalli, above left and D&G above right). These bum-huggers are only going to make you look constrained if you are a beefy sort.

Charcoal Suiting. Designers are calling these dark grays and near-blacks asphalt, pavement, petrol and other urban things. The palette, shown here at Cloak is great for moving from day to evening. We are also noticing subtle ties that combine dark grays and dark browns, a risky mix that we think looks particularly modern, especially when done by Mui Mui.

Roberto Cavalli loves Christina Aguilera

Roberto Cavalli has created ten one-of-a-kind looks for the songstress to wear on her "Back to Basics" tour. All the costumes have a vintage flare, referencing everything from 1940's-era Marlene Dietrich to 1960's bathing suits. This isn't the first time that Cavalli has dressed Christina. Her musical and personal style has become increasingly glamorous and sophisticated with amazing attention to detail. Take a look at these sketches and imagine how will fit on Christina.

Cristiano Ronaldo is Trendy

To walk at the street like this is more studied of what many people believe. Moschino's broken pants, belt of serpent, pink pole and portfolio for man. The Portuguese mid-field player is one of the firmest substitutes of David Beckham as fashion icon. He has done campaigns for pepe Jeans and what he still has in this business...

David Delfin Autumn/Winter

If there is a polemic designer this is David Delfín (let's not forget his women s with rope on the gangplank). And if there is a fashionable name predecessor and defender of the militarism fashion, nobody as him.

Delfín presents the collection Autumn Winter with military influences inspired by the third reich, fashion that has declared his fetish.

Davidelfín is, besides David Delfín, the model Bimba Bosé and the brothers Déborah, Diego and Gorka Postigo, a united team and with the very clear ideas. The public keeps asking vociferously for something of his polemic. Are here some photos of hislast parade. You can see the whole show in his web page. According to his web page, davidelfin is something more than confection. He conceives fashion as a form and a way of expression, turning it into a platform where one works and different creative disciplines are mixed. For tastes...

Misha Barton dominatrix

Looking at the last number of Gotham Magazine I have seen these Misha Barton's photos. Nothing similar to Marissa Cooper's image in OC, Misha Burton is the protagonist of the Bebe's new campaign. In the images Misha is a domineering woman surrounded with seminude men dressed in tangas of leopard.

Misha Barton, with only 20 springs, already has led several advertising campaigns: Calvin Klein, Keds, Neutrogena, Bebe and now she has signed a contract with Morgan to be the image of the next season. I believe that these Bebe's images break with the image of good girl, though the clothes do not say anything to me, and am glad that Bebe do not make clothes for men.

Misha has not let down the performance and nowadays is participating in three movies.

D&G menswear, winter 2006

We have just entered in December. Already we all have in the head the navidad: eaten relatives, celebrations, buys and gifts, trees, Christmas carols and cold. Yes, winter cold that forces to cover us up to the eyebrows. A cold that will accompany us during the long and monotonous next months.

We have stopped definitively behind the summers days. The vacations, the beach, the Sun and the sea. There is a solution for those who do not want to forget the sea, the winter line of Dolce and Gabbana.

For the winter of 2006, D&G proposed a masculine very interesting collection. Stocks on the seaworthy motives, the anchors and the navy blue one they are elementsappellants who mix of natural form with the coats and the woolly textures.
